Home Buyer Drainage Survey

Our Home Buyer Drainage Surveys help you to understand exactly what you are taking on and help protect you from experiencing problems once you’ve purchased a property.

Our advice

Why is a survey important?

Avoid any nasty and expensive surprises by knowing exactly what is going on underground before you buy your new home.

We know that buying a new property can be an exciting time. It can also be costly, and it’s important to take steps in any home buying process to protect yourself against any nasty surprises once you’ve taken ownership. Everyone appreciates the need for a building survey, but often a property’s drainage system can be overlooked. However, off mains drainage systems such as septic tanks can be costly to repair or replace, and are governed by numerous regulations which dictate what sort of systems can be used.

UKDP’s Home Buyer Drainage Surveys are here to help you understand exactly what is going on out of sight underground. If there are no problems, you will get peace of mind that all is as it should be. If issues are identified, you will be able to discuss these with the vendor to agree the way forward.

What’s included

A typical building survey won’t assess the condition of a property’s existing drainage system. One of our experienced field engineers will visit the property and conduct a thorough investigation of the drainage system. Choose from our Standard Home Buyer Drainage Survey or our Home Buyer Drainage Survey Plus.

Everything you need for complete peace of mind all for a fixed fee that is a fraction of the cost of a replacement drainage system.

What’s involved?

We’ll arrange for one of our friendly and experienced field engineers to visit the property. They will undertake a complete investigation of all areas of the drainage system they can access and observe. We will compile a report along with our conclusions and recommendations and provide that to you shortly after the survey has been undertaken. You can, of course, come back and seek further clarity or ask any follow-up questions. We are here to help.

Please note that for both types of survey offered, the tank at the property will need to be emptied on the same day as the survey is carried out. This is to ensure that the full structure of the tank can be clearly assessed, and the tank can be observed once emptied. This is not included in the cost of the survey, however, we can assist you in arranging this if that would help.
